Pamela Anderson Tells Us Her Secrets to Naturally Healthy Hair in Her 50s (2025)

  • After ditching makeup, Pamela Anderson is now focusing on evolving her hair, embracing simplicity and authenticity.
  • Years of heat styling and extensions damaged her hair. Now, she prefers wearing it naturally and nurturing it with the right products—and says it's never been healthier.

Ditching makeup was just the first part of Pamela Anderson's reinvention. She says the next step is to experiment with her hair.

"I can't believe I have one hair on my head after all those years of hot rollers, setting my hair, and crazy photo shoots I did with all the hair extensions," Andserson tells InStyle. "I just prefer my own hair, and it's healthier than it's ever been."

She credits a pared-down, low-maintenance routine. Because when she's not working, the way her hair dries overnight is the way she wears it. "My routine has just become simpler and simpler," she says. "My hair is so thick and healthy, and I attribute that a lot to genetics and my diet, but also to great products."

The Last Showgirl star is loving the products from Biolage Professional Hair Spa—which is why she's partnered with the brand as its latest face. Her first campaign, launching June 2, focuses on Biolage's best-selling Hydra Source collection and the new Full Rescue line. It marks Anderson's first-ever hair campaign.

"The most important thing for me in the beauty world was to work with companies and use products that are as sustainable as possible, but also cruelty-free and vegan," says Anderson. "So I'm just happy that it's in fashion to have compassion."

Ahead, Anderson tells us about her ever-evolving relationship with her hair, her favorite Biolage products, and more.

The bangs and bob that you debuted at the Met Gala was just such a cool look. What led to that decision?

I've known I wanted to play with my hair a little bit more because I was wearing no makeup. But I also didn't want to do anything fancy that was going to take a lot of time, so I cut my hair for a film I just did in Australia, Place to Be, where I played [actress] Ellen Burstyn's daughter and [director] Kornél Mundruczó and I were talking about the hair, and I thought [the bob was] a quiet nod to [Ingmar] Bergman, who is one of my favorite directors. I've always loved Bibi Andersson and Liv Ullmann [who worked closely with Bergman].

After that, I tried on theMet dresswith Tory [Burch], and I noticed that the neckline was like a floating neckline. I said, we gotta cut a little bit further. So we cut it so it was like an inch above the neckline. And then I've always wanted to go for the baby bang. I looked back at pictures of myself when I was five years old and thought, "I had that haircut when I was in kindergarten!' Let's do it again. But that was my mother's doing. And I thought—hair grows...My hair grows so fast, too. So who knows what my hair is gonna look like next? But I'm doing a play next, so I'll be wearing a wig for that play. It'll be long, curly, and different for Camino Real. I'm going to play Marguerite in that play. So with my hair, who knows what's gonna happen? I'll have a whole summer of my hair, just, you know, not being messed with.

Oh, fun! I was gonna ask, is the bob here to stay?

I actually really love it. I love it. It's just funny, because every time I catch myself in a reflection in the oven door or something, I'll go, Oh, my God, who is that? It's just short and playful, and it definitely works well in the garden. We'll see! I don't know what's going to happen next...I've been looking at different plays and roles I would love to play. I just received a stack of plays from this great theater bookstore in New York, and I looked at one of the covers, and I was like, whoa. The look I just did was very Joan of Arc, but that wasn't the intention; it was just on my mind. Funny, I manifest really quickly, so I've got to be careful when I dream up.

Who are some of your beauty inspirations right now?

Besides Joan of Arc? Beauty inspirations... I don't think we should chase beauty. I think beauty is more of a homecoming. And I feel like that's where I'm at right now, is discovering who I am. I've always been playful. I've always loved to play characters. That's been a part of my life since I was very little, learning how to be someone else. But it's been really important to me over the past few years to discover who I am. What are my original thoughts? What do I want to look like? Of course, I have references I love—I look at directors, I look at cinema, I look at visionaries.

Not to be too cliché, but life is such a gift, and it's so fleeting. [It's important] to leave a mark and to make sure your presence is felt in the world in a positive way. It's the same philosophy I have across the board when it comes to the characters I play and how I navigate my own personal life and the products that I use. Because we all use beauty products. I mean, I grew up washing my hair with a bar of soap. I didn't even know there were really great beauty products until I got into this industry. So it's been nice to learn and just kind of go with the flow and see how I want to be when I wake up, and journaling and writing and being in nature and discovering who I want to be. So I think that references are inspiration, but they're just a jumping off point.

What advice would you give to anyone else on a similar journey of rediscovery?

I've always been the one on a photo shoot in the makeup chair, saying, "Is this cruelty-free? Can't we use this plant—isn't it the same thing?" I'm always the person asking—it's about intention. Why not leave a gentler mark on the world? Everything has a repercussion, it might as well be a good one. And I feel like there is so much out there that you actually have options these days, so it's easy to align yourself with things that are more forward-thinking and more conscious. So that's my advice: to take the extra moment to discover what you resonate with.
